Marsha Carr-Lambert
Marsha was born and raised in the small West Virginia town of Scherr. She attended Columbus College of Art & Design and later graduated from West Virginia University with a masters degree in reading.
Marsha has taught in elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and even at a private deaf school. She loves teaching, but especially learning from her students. In 1994, Marsha won the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award and was the 1995 Teacher of the Year. Marsha was also the 1996 Living Memorial National Scholarship recipient.
In 1985, a flood destroyed Marsha's home and business with a 60 ft. wall of water. Marsha and her husband, Jennings, moved to Maryland where they began the business.
Marsha loves to travel. In 1993, she studied in schools in Australia and New Zealand. She visited a tropical rain forest and snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef. She has traveled to Mexico and studied the Mayan Indian culture. In 1996, she studied in schools in Nairobi, Kenya. While in Africa, she took a safari on the Serengeti to observe animals in their natural habitat.
Marsha also enjoys painting and photography as a hobby. A photograph of a koala won her the Marcell B. Kile Photography Award in 1994. Her painting of rain forest green tree frogs won the 1994 Western Maryland Best of Show Watercolor Award.
Marsh also enjoys writing. She has been published in Teaching Pre K-8, The Whole Idea, Better Teaching, Instructor, Mailbox, Reading Today, and The Reading Teacher.
Marsh has just completed a reading series for Rigby, Inc. that consists of 20 books for developing early readers.
